The Veggie Grill was one of my favourite places in California. It’s all vegan burgers, sandwiches and salads. There are lots of locations, and they are opening more!
The burgers are either made from ‘chickin’ or ‘veggie-steak’, a blend of soy and wheat protein that tastes really good and pretty similar to the real thing. And they also have tempeh which is also great, if you’re not into mock meat.
Pictured below is the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin’ burger (fried chickin’, lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado, & spicy mayo) and the All-American Stack (grilled veggie-steak, pickles, lettuce, tomato, crispy onion rings, & thousand island dressing). As well as a side of sweet potato fries. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. It wasn’t like a vegan version of unhealthy greasy/cheesy junk food that just ends up tasting gross. Veggie Grill has more of a healthy vibe.
You can eat in the restaurant, but we got take out to eat outside in the sun
They also have 3 desserts, and I, of course, got them all! A chocolate chip cookie, carrot cake, and my favourite, the chocolate pudding parfait. Chocolate pudding/custard combined with crushed cookies, soy cream and chocolate sauce –so good.
You can see their whole menu and locations on their website!

I absolutely LOVE The Veggie Grill and try to go at least once whenever I visit my family. If I could go more than once, I’d try different things, but I’m so crazy about the Chillin’ Chick’n (wonderful cilantro pesto ) in a wrap that I can’t resist ordering it. I wish there were one near me in Nara, Japan.
